Help
What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
- iCloud turned on, if you want a backup.
How do I add an account?
- Tap + and scan the QR code the website shows when you turn on two-factor authentication.
- If the QR code is in a photo or a screenshot, choose the photo instead.
- No QR code? Type the name of the service, your account and the secret key (sometimes called the setup key).
- Tap a tile to copy its code.
How do I move my codes from TOTP Authenticator?
In TOTP Authenticator, open Backup/Restore, make a backup with a password and save the file in Files. In Nodkey, open Settings, choose Import from TOTP Authenticator, pick the file and type the same password. All your accounts come over at once.
How do I move my codes from Google Authenticator?
In Google Authenticator, choose Transfer accounts, then Export accounts. It shows one or more QR codes. Scan them with Nodkey, or choose a photo of them, and every account in them is added.
How do backup and restore work?
iCloud backup is on from the start: Nodkey backs up your accounts automatically to your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted, so only your devices can read them. Under iCloud backup in Settings you can see when the last backup was made, or turn it off. On a new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account and open Nodkey, and everything comes back by itself.
How do I keep the codes I use most at the top?
Tap the star on a tile to make it a favourite. Favourites always come first. In Settings, Sort decides the order of the rest: Most used puts the codes you use most often at the top, and with My order you arrange the tiles yourself. Touch and hold a tile and drag it to a new place.
What happens if I lose my phone?
If Lock with Face ID is on, nobody else can open Nodkey. If iCloud backup was on, your accounts come back when you open Nodkey on a new iPhone with the same Apple Account. If it was off, the codes are gone with the phone: use the backup codes each service gave you, or ask the service for help signing in.
Do the codes work without internet?
Yes. The codes are made on your iPhone and work offline. Only the backup needs a connection.
Privacy
Last updated 9 October 2026
Nodkey collects no data about you. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your secret keys stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted. Only anonymous crash reports are sent, so faults can be fixed.
Your keys and codes
Nodkey keeps your secret keys in the iPhone's keychain and makes the codes on the iPhone. Your keys and codes are never sent to us.
iCloud backup
iCloud backup is on from the start. Your accounts are stored in your own iCloud, in the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account, end-to-end encrypted, so only your devices can read them, not us. We have no server that stores your accounts. You can turn iCloud backup off in Settings.
Camera and photos
The camera is used only to scan QR codes, and a photo you choose is read only to find a QR code in it. The picture is not saved or sent anywhere.
Face ID
Face ID is handled by iOS. Nodkey only learns whether it worked, never anything about your face.
Crash reports
If Nodkey crashes or hangs, the iPhone makes a technical report: where in the code it happened, the app version, the iOS version and the phone model. Nodkey sends it to the developer's own server so the fault can be fixed. The report has no name, location or anything that links it to you. It is deleted after 90 days, and database backups are gone 7 days after that.
Purchases
Nodkey is free and has no in-app purchases.
Children
Nodkey collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
