Help
What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
- A Chromecast or a TV with Google Cast built in, such as a Google TV.
- Your iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi.
No TVs show up
- In Settings, open Apps › Beamcast and turn on Local Network.
- Check that the iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi as the TV, not on mobile data or a guest network.
- Turn the TV on, or turn on Remote Start in its network settings so it can be found in standby.
- Pull down on the list in Beamcast, or tap Search Again.
My speaker or soundbar isn't listed
Speakers and soundbars with Google Cast can only play sound, so Beamcast doesn't list them.
The TV shows a black picture
Some apps protect their video, and iOS blacks it out whenever the screen is mirrored. Use that app's own cast button instead.
The sound plays on the iPhone, not the TV
Turn on TV sound in Beamcast before you start casting.
The picture stutters
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router, connect the TV with a network cable if it has a port, and avoid large downloads while you cast.
Privacy
Last updated 7 October 2026
Beamcast collects no data about you. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Only anonymous crash reports are sent, so faults can be fixed.
Your screen
When you start casting, iOS asks you to confirm. Beamcast then encodes your screen on the iPhone and sends it over your Wi-Fi straight to the TV you chose. It never goes to the internet or to us. What the TV does with it is covered by the privacy terms of the TV maker and of Google.
Local network
Beamcast uses Local Network access only to find TVs on your Wi-Fi and send the picture to them.
On your iPhone
Beamcast keeps the TV you last chose, the TV sound setting, the cast status and a short troubleshooting log on your iPhone. They are deleted when you delete the app.
Crash reports
If Beamcast crashes or hangs, the iPhone makes a technical report: where in the code it happened, the app version, the iOS version and the phone model. Beamcast sends it to the developer's own server so the fault can be fixed. The report has no name, location or anything that links it to you. It is deleted after 90 days, and database backups are gone 7 days after that.
Purchases
Beamcast is free and has no in-app purchases.
Children
Beamcast collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
